The Ten Commandments of Home Remodeling

The 10 sacred commandments of home remodeling are as follows:

     1.       Thou shalt plan thy work

No remodeling project can be completed without a solid plan. Go through your plan step by step to anticipate all difficulties that you might encounter during your remodeling project.

     2.       Thou shalt not go over budget

Even when you set a budget, it is very easy to deviate from it. Set a budget that is fair, right from the beginning. You will definitely go over your budget if the budget limit is very low.

3.       Honor thy plan

You have made plans for your remodel. Now your job is to stick to the plan. Do not deviate from the plan. It will lead to excess spending and an incomplete work that may leave you unsatisfied in the end.

     4.       Thou shalt repair thy damages before extending thy house

Before you remodel your house, repair the damages. If you think that you would repair the damages while remodeling your house you will end up facing a lot of problems and the damages might get worse.

     5.       Thou shalt clean thy house before remodeling

Cleaning your house before remodeling may reveal unseen damages or defects that could have been missed by you earlier. Cleaning your house would also make the job of the contractor easier and would facilitate a better output from your remodel project.

     6.       Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s project

This is probably the second most important commandment. Do NOT steal your neighbor’s design. They would have put in a large amount of time in their design so that their house would stand out. You can be sure they would not have done it for some nosy neighbor to steal their idea. Besides, at Daniel Mackey we keep innovating and bringing in new designs suited to your taste, so at the end, let it be your neighbor who’s trying to copy you!

     7.       Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain

Keep your cool at all times and don’t get flustered if something does not go according to your plan. Scolding the workers and cursing them would only make things difficult for everyone.

     8.       Thou shalt respect ideas from contractors

Your ideas are our first priority. But as experienced contractors, we can give you valuable inputs that would increase the exquisiteness and individuality of your project. Some ideas that you put forth may not be feasible and it would be wise to respect the ideas from your contractor.

     9.       Thou shalt allocate a separate budget for miscellaneous expenses.

Detailed planning and budget allocation aside, it is very unlikely that the project would go 100% according to plan. It is advisable that you allocate a separate budget for miscellaneous expenses like extra cement, wood etc.

    10.       Thou shalt choose Daniel Mackey as your contractor.

That’s right. You should choose only us as your contractor as we are not only the best in the field but also have the right resources and tools to make your dream remodel project a reality!
